I have been satisfied with the gym overall. The customer service could use an upgrade, but the cleanliness and equipment availability have been great. I am annoyed and inconvenienced by this annual fee that was charged to my account without any notice. I was made aware that there would be a "one-time fee" on June 1st. I was assuming that the fee would be taken out of my account on June 1st of the year that I began my membership and that would be it. The customer service representatives refer to it as a "one-time fee", when really it is an annual fee that is taken out yearly. That is a misrepresentation of the terms and conditions of the membership. My major issue is with the fact that, not only did I not realize it would be coming out, but there was no notice. They post signs around the gym about everything else, they could have warned us some how. If not a letter in the mail, an email or flyer would have at least given members a heads up. When I called to inquire about the fee the representative continued to call the fee a "one-time fee" (which it is not) and told me that they notified me when I signed up that it would be taken out on June 1st. She also told me that there are too many members for them to remind everyone that the fee will be charged. I was also told that if that is an issue I can cancel at anytime, as if she does not value my business. The bottom line is, there should be some notice to members. It is difficult to remember from one year to the next exactly when this money is due to come out.
